Metric Catheters with Metric (Straight)

Purpose

Tracheobronchial suctioning of the lower airways

Features

  • Atraumatic rounded distal eyes
  • Integrated, ergonomic connector
  • Frosted surface facilitates introduction through endotracheal tube
  • Marks and numbers at each cm starting 5 cm from the distal end

Mully

  • Less traumatic compared to other designs
  • Higher efficiency at lower vacuum level
  • 2 small relieving eyes reduce risk of blockage
  • Hardness: shore A 78
  • Recommended for all suctioning

Optimal

Same features as Mully - but softer
- Hardness: Shore A 64

Vacutip

  • Transparent connector for easy observation of secretions
  • Color-coded for easy identification of CH
  • No contamination of finger
  • Maximum vacuum reduction ensures suctioning only when required
  • Decreased removal of residual air

Metric-Marking

  • Increased safety for accurate positioning of the suction catheter
  • Allows standardization between members of staff
  • Highly recommended for neonatal use

Precautions

  • Suction catheters are not advanced more than 1 cm beyond the end of the endotracheal tube
