The company was founded under the name Hospitak with offices and production on Long Island, N.Y.. A competitive respiratory care product portfolio under the Hospitak™ trade name is expanding in the following years.

 

1992

As one of the pioneers in the field of low cost production Hospitak, two years before NAFTA, opened production in Reynosa, Mexico and a new 50,000 S/F distribution center in McAllen, TX.

 

1993

A new 60,000 S/F plant was opened in Reynosa, Mexico.

 

1994

FDA establishment certified.

 

1997

ISO 9000:1996, EN 46000 and CE certified.

 

1998

Maersk Medical, a leading European manufacturer of medical devices, acquired Hospitak. Maersk Medical's sales office in Florida since the mid 80's was relocated to Hospitak's corporate headquarters on Long Island, N.Y.

 

 

1999

The company name changed to Maersk Medical Inc. with Hospitak™ continuing as a strong brand name

for airway management products.

 

1998

ET tubes and suction catheters are introduced.

 

2001

New Management took over. In order to secure optimal customer service and cost advantage over competitors also     in the years to come, Maersk Medical consolidated its North American headquarters, its Latin American sales office and all US sales offices to McAllen, TX.

 

2001

Production capacity and capabilites expanded significantly and a second plant for the production of infusions sets is opened in Reynosa, Mexico.

 

2002

Maersk Medical expands product portfolio with a number of new anesthesia products such as single limb, expandable, Jacson-Rees and Mapleson circuits as well as a new range of CLEAR VUE™ anesthesia masks with scent.

 

2002

A number of new respiratory products are introduced: resuscitators, hyperinflation bag systems, OPTIMIST CLEAR™    and OPTIMIST PLUS™ nebulizers, humidifers and flared nasal cannulas with straight or curved tip.

 

2003

The Maersk Medical Group is acquired by Nordic Capital (www.nordiccapital.se). Maersk Medical Inc. changed name to Unomedical, Inc.

 

2003

KONSERV (TM) Dual lumen nasal cannula is introduced for use with oxygen conservers. Besides are trach masks with stabilizer and several new emergency masks marketed.

 

2003

Canadian ISO 13488 and ISO 9001:2000 certifications achieved.

 

2004

A new state-of-art MAC-SAFE (TM) CO2 monitoring nasal cannula is introduced. Furthermore, large volume nebulizer is launched.

 

2005

A new High Flow cannula is introduced, along wit pediatric Mac-Safe (TM).

 

 

2006

A complete line of Breathing Exercisers and Incentive Spirometers is added to the line.

Unomedical, Inc moved into it's new North America headquarters and Distribution Center on South Ware Rd in McAllen, TX
